English is the sole language that has evolved naturally to emerge as the global language. The biggest factor that English Language has in its favor is its effectiveness. Comparatively, Chinese is spoken more by native speakers, it is also simple when it comes to grammar – it lacks prepositions, articles, verb tense, conjugation, singular and plural nouns. The shortcomings of Chinese make it far less effective as compared to English, when it comes to complex expressions. Chinese is also tonal, thus limiting its tone being used for expression of emotions. And, the Chinese alphabets are quite difficult for people from other countries to learn, whereas Roman alphabets are far easier to grasp.

Roman alphabet is the most commonly used alphabet on the globe, and even the most dissimilar languages like English and Spanish use it. The Roman alphabet is more phonetic than based on character. Hence, it represents one of the most helpful languages in relating the sounds of words.

The wide use of English Language has made many of the non-native speakers to realize that it is important to learn the language in order to stay in business. More than 400 million English native speakers exist in the UK, the US, Australia, Canada and other countries. However, more than 2 billion people in the world speak English Language as their native or non-native language.

There is a misconception that the language is more of a Romance language, but English is in fact a Germanic language due to the influence of the Normans. The Normans went on to settle in present day France. In the early years of the Norman conquest many Norman words were adapted into English Language, the reason why there are a lot of similarities between present-day English and French.

The present-day popularity of the language can be attributed to the medium provided by television, internet, radio and newspapers. Global English Language has further received an international recognition and popularity due to the global reach of Hollywood. And there is no other language on the internet that can take the place of English. Even the pages created in other languages offer a version of their English translation. Formerly, the influence of the British Empire and presently the dominance of the American culture has tremendously contributed to the spread of English throughout the world.

But despite the evolution and development of English, still a significant amount of language barrier exists between different countries. With more and more people learning enlgish and starting to speak fluently, these barriers are gradually fading away. As an example, a person in Denmark need not learn Chinese in order to converse with someone in China. English acts as the most popular and ready source of communication between people from countries with different native languages.

Another aspect that Global English Language has in its favor is the simplicity in its conjunction of verbs. Most of the languages have complex conjugation, especially for irregular verbs. But, English delivers with an array of prefix and suffix set-up for tenses like the future tense.
