With an increasing number of people looking to combine teaching and travel it’s important that the decision is not taken lightly and all aspects are researched. It is a brave step to decide to dive head first into a completely foreign culture and certain things need to be considered before doing so:

● Location: Most importantly you need to choose the country/city that’s perfect for you. Here you perhaps need to consider distance from home, big city or rural location, neighbouring countries if you are looking to explore further afield in time away from the classroom.

● Language Barrier: it’s wrong to assume because you are teaching English you will be surrounded by English speakers…you need to be able to survive and communicate in a new environment with language and cultural differences, online tefl courses help greatly with these factors.

● Costs: Whilst a major benefit of combining teaching with travel is that often a lot of costs of taken care of i.e. accommodation and you receive a salary, costs still need to be evaluated and compared to the actual salary. For example if you choose to teach English in Spain a similar salary would go a lot further in say Vietnam or Thailand, therefore you can enjoy your spare time even more,

In my view these are the top 3 things to consider, but new teachers abroad may also need to look into health issues (vaccinations required) , culture and customs of their destination, food (some people may struggle if they cannot find familiar food) etc.

Teaching abroad can be greatly beneficial in so many ways, however if you are not fully prepared and organised it can, in some rare situations, be a difficult and less enjoyable task. Once you have looked into the above an decided on the right location I have no doubt that teaching and travelling will be an life changing experience as it was for myself, and will be one that you will never forget.

If been inside the classroom is always where you exceeded in life then why not keep it that way and pass on your skills to others. If you aren’t studying anymore than you can still take the opportunity to earn qualifications that will take you into the classroom to teach whether you go to late classes or sign up to online programmes.

Regardless of what type of subject you are interested in teaching you will find classes available around the country, however, if you are unsure which is best for you there are a few things to consider. First and foremost you need to choose a subject that you are knowledgeable in and would be a success in teaching it. After that you may want to consider what opportunities are available once qualified. Not everybody heads to a school with the aim of getting a job, for other becoming a tutor and teaching in their spare time.

Popular options for people looking to improve their skill set and qualification will find institutions in various areas of the UK, looking online will be the best way to get an extensive list of places to consider. English courses in West London are popular with those looking to head into the world of teaching, especially those who are going to teach it to people who don’t have English as their first language. If you are looking for a general English course then you will find this available too.

Teaching is becoming a popular options for young students today as University courses are filling up at a higher percentage than 10 years ago, so now might be the time to be heading into that job market before it becomes much harder.

Learning a new language is certainly one of the most rewarding things you can do, the sense of achievement once you have an understanding of a new language, or better still become fluent, is enormous. And out of the European languages, I would suggest French is the perfect place to start; More than 200 million people around the world speak French, and as the 2nd most popular language, as well as the only other language along with English to be taught in every country in the world, your sure to get a lot of use out of your new skill, and who knows what new opportunities will arise from being able to speak what has been voted the most romantic language in the world.

France also stands top of the list of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. Having a grasp of the local language is sure make your trip a lot more enjoyable, and gives you a much greater insight into the local culture. Better still, when setting out to learn a new language, many people take the opportunity to sprachaufenthalt Frankreich – study abroad in France. Combining studies with travel and getting a true taste of French culture which often enhances the understanding of the language.

These days most countries have large number of language courses available for people looking to sprachreisen – which means to study abroad, and the courses are becoming increasingly popular, especially for younger people looking to travel and work abroad. Learning French will only enhance this travelling experience, and if your studies really develop into a love of foreign languages then French is an ideal base for learning other languages, especially Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.

The practical uses of learning French are that it can greatly improve your employment opportunities. An ability to speak French and English is a huge advantage when looking for work internationally, not only with in France but also in other countries where the language is widely spoken; Canada, Switzerland, parts of Africa. You could also take these skills further afield and teach, a large number of countries offer teaching positions within schools and universities across Asia for example.

The benefits of learning a new language are enormous in my opinion, whether it is for a sense of personal achievement, to enhance your travelling experience, or to broaden your future opportunities in work and life, the initial difficulties in grasping French will soon be outweighed by what comes once you are fluent.

Planning a life-changing move to Spain…here’s my personal views on what’s most important.

Moving to Spain does not have to be as daunting as many people think it is, with the right planning and the right steps taken it can be as smooth as moving round the corner. People often wait till retirement age to make the move, and whilst this a great way to spend your later years, the resources are also available for younger people to take advantage of all this wonderful country has to offer and build a great life working in Spain as well.

My top tip is to take the time to learn Spanish in Spain, especially if you intend to start a business or look for employment, job opportunities will dramatically increase if you can speak the language, as will business opportunities. Even for those not looking to work, speaking Spanish will ease the settling in process, making the move abroad is obviously a stressful period so in my opinion you should do all you can to make acclimatising to your new community as straight-forward as possible. Understanding the local culture, appreciating cultural expectations is all made is easier by speaking Spanish…please don’t be one of those people who move to Spain and keep themselves separate from the locals, what makes Spain special is the locals, so you are sure to miss out if you choose not to get involved with them and their way of life.

As well as taking advantage of language schools Spain, if you are planning to look for work, my advice to you would be to find rental accommodation initially then maybe look for something more permanent once you have the security of full time employment. The last thing you want to do is throw all your savings into a long term investment then find you have no income from employment to live on. This also gives the flexibility of trying different areas of Spain; you may find the job opportunities are better elsewhere. There are a wide variety of rental properties all across Spain.

If you plan your move effectively I am sure Spain will be all you expected and more. Embrace the culture, learn Spanish, and give yourself the best chance of succeeding in your new life in the sun. Try not to let rash decisions spoil the chance of a lifetime.

MBA Finance Program- Better Than A CA Course?

There has been an unusual level of argument and debate about the various courses for a good career. I know that the MBA fever is going to last for quite some time. The popularity of MBA is completely justified. However, people make the mistake of choosing some wrong courses of studies. I know many friends, who would advise me on pursuing a course of study in Chartered Accountancy. Well, I had been thinking if the effort and time of the course would be really worth it. Would it be better than a MBA Finance program? Well, let’s find out.

The thing is that the MBA finance course has many advantages in comparison to the regular CA course. This has some basic reasons. When you are pursuing a CA course, you will come to know that it takes a lot of time. I know some people, who have tried and then retried to pass the tests to qualify for the course. Often, the best of the efforts are not rewarded. It takes about 10 years for a young aspirant to become a qualified and able chartered accountant for a company. On the other hand, the MBA Finance Program takes only a couple of years to complete and get the job.

Moreover, the subject matter of a CA course is also insignificant. You only get to rack your heads over the theories and basics of the subject of accountancy. Instead, the MBA program involves studying only the relevant aspects of accountancy. Also, the study material concerns only the practical and dynamic knowledge of accounting procedures. Then, the aspirants would also have some good job opportunities with their MBA degrees. In fact, if you merely get a job after a CA course, it will be mostly a rear desk job. You will only have a good interaction with bigger purposes with a job from a MBA.
